Punjab Nahi Jaungi V/s Na Maloom Afraad 2 | Who’s Ruling The Box Office?

Good movies, released on a festive occasion of holidays, attract movie-goers like moth to a flame but two good movies releasing at the same time also spell an ugly battle of the box office collections. We are referring to the on going battle of the box office collection between Na Maloom Afraad 2 and Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

Both movies had a lot in common than what looks like: Both had a stellar cast with big industry names, both movies are light family-entertainers and both had a blockbuster hype to the release date. While NMA 2 had the advantage of high local cinema occupancy because of its parent company, Excellency Films, PNJ clearly had the lead in international markets.

So, the big question is – who’s winning at this money-making race?

Before you look for one definite answer, here;s what we know so far. Na Maloom Afraad 2 had maximum showtime distribution in all the big multiplexes. That itself gave the movie an advantage over its rival, Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

According to NMA 2’s official social accounts, the movie has collected up to 6.5 Crores over the weekend and is still going houseful.

PNJ was aggressively promoted in the international markets and as expected, it is breaking records in overseas markets.

According to the official update, PNJ has continued record run in the UK with over 85000 pounds on Saturday taking total around 170k pounds and weekend will finish around 250k pounds which are a new record for a Pakistan films.The weekend numbers are more than Hindi films like Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Tubelight and are only second to Jab Harry Met Sejal this year.

PNJ’s lead actor, Humayun Saeed shared this on insta.

According to Metro Live, PNJ is now the biggest opening Pakistani movie with PKR 5 Crore business on the first day of Eid-Al-Adha.

Who’s winning the box office so far? The truth is, both movies are still going houseful which is a win-win deal. Other than that, we’ll have to wait for the official box office numbers as it’s too early to judge who’s leading the race.
